Since October 1997, HandCrafting Justice has been working in cooperation with women whose aim is to better their own lives and that of their families. These women gain economic independence and justice for themselves through the dignified work and other services and outreach offered within the work centers, thereby bringing about positive changes in their lives.

The Sisters of the Good Shepherd work directly with most of the women within the HandCrafting Justice network and the other women we partner with are supported through similar projects. We receive the goods directly from the centers and pay the projects upon receiving shipments. The artisans are paid by the project on site when an order has been filled and is ready to be shipped to us, allowing the artisans sufficient financial resources to support their families and themselves while continuing in their craftwork.
Throughout the US, we support the efforts of these women by marketing their handcrafted goods and giving presentations to raise awareness of the situations these women confront. Through the direct interaction we have with the customers, we are able to tell the stories of the craftswomen, which allow the purchaser to gain a better understanding of who they are supporting. Each purchase has a direct impact on the lives of these women, who confront so much poverty and hardship.
We have found markets within churches, schools, universities, festivals, conferences, homes, business office buildings, and our own communities. We welcome all opportunities to share our mission and market these works of art. Please contact us if you have ideas about where we could market these goods, or if you are involved in an organization that would welcome a presentation or sale. The women are most appreciative of your support. |
